Natural Sharpens Playtest

Objective

1)                    To increase the value of the smithing skills.

2)                     To allow newer players to swing more damage on non-magic weapons.

3)                     Allow for players of all levels to have a +damage weapon that isn’t magical.

Playtest

When making a weapon (ONLY when making it) the smith can decide to sharpen the edge, or harden it if it is a blunt weapon.  This makes the weapon do more damage like a normal sharpen, however unlike a normal sharpen it will last the entire duration of the weapon.  This can not be combined with another sharpen as it would break the blade.

To make a natural sharpen weapon you need to have a component to make sure the blade can stand up to the bending of the metal to put an edge (or harden) on it.  The smith must use 5 levels of production and 1 SR1 to add a plus one bonus to a weapon.  The smith must spend 10 levels of production and 3 SR1 s to add a plus two bonus to a weapon.  The smith must spend 20 levels of production and 5 SR1 s to add a plus three bonus to a weapon.  On top of these levels they need to also have enough production left to actually make whatever weapon they are trying to create with an edge.

For example, Bubba the Blacksmith has 12 levels of smithing and 5 SRs.  He can make a short sword which takes 1 level of production and 3 of his SR1s to then add a natural +2 sharpen on to it which takes his other 10 levels, leaving him 1 level left over.

Each of these weapons are quite fragile in nature and only last a year from the time created.  You can extend that time by an additional year (up to a limit of 2 years) for each additional SR1 and an additional 1 level of production you put into each weapon.

For example, Bubba the Blacksmith has 12 levels of smithing and 5 SRs.  He can make a short sword which takes 1 level of production and 3 of his SR1s to then add a natural +2 sharpen on to it which takes his 10 levels, leaving him with 1 level left over.  Since he has 1 level left he can then make his weapon last for two years using up another one of his SR1s.

These weapons make also be strengthened to prevent them from being destroyed by the normal means.

These weapons may also be master crafted to allow them to include mighty slayer or deceitful blade as per a normal weapon.

As with any item the smith must be able to create each part of the weapon on his own smithing levels (without the use of a workshop).

These blades can not be enchanted by any formal magics.

THESE CAN NEVER BE OBTAINED BY GOBLIN PRODUCTION!
